THE OREGON COAST 2022
In August of 2022, we drove up north to the Pacific Northwest. We first stopped by San Francisco for some lunch and a hike to a viewpoint overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. Hawk Hill is a dog friendly area and the views of the Bay were just epic.
We continued further north into the heart of Northern California and had dinner at the famous Yaks on the 5, a restaurant famous for it’s burgers. We then check in at our hotel and rested for the night.
The following morning, we drove north and stopped by the city of Eugene, Oregon. Eugene is actually the inspiration for the town of Springfield in the historic animated series of the Simpsons. There are a few murals up around the town and we stopped by a view point before making our way to the place we would stay for the next 2 nights; Astoria, Oregon.
In Astoria, we stayed at the beautiful Bowline Hotel. This hotel sits right on the waterfront along the massive Columbia River. I opted to upgrade our room to a deluxe suite with a view of the water and I must say, it was well worth it. During our time in Astoria we made sure to visit a beautiful dog friendly spot just 30 minutes away in Washington State. Cape Disappointment State park is dog friendly and has many beautiful trails as well as access to the sites such as the Louis and Clark Monument and World War II fortifications.
We also visited a few spots within the town itself, such as the Astoria column, with sweeping views of the town and the Columbia River and Shipwreck beach.
